Perkins Ranch Mangalitsa Pork

Perkins Ranch has been rooted in the valleys of Montana since 1885, beginning as a 160-acre deeded homestead along Dempsey Creek. Over the generations, the ranch has grown in both size and spirit. Today, their grandchildren represent the sixth generation to live and work beneath the snow-covered peak of Mount Powell in the Flint Creek Mountain Range.

At Perkins Ranch, their philosophy is simple: “It’s important to know where your meat comes from.” The hogs graze on open pasture, drink from fresh mountain water, and are supplemented with local grains and high-elevation alfalfa. Humanely raised and cared for, they truly live their best life—so you can enjoy pork that is as honest and flavorful as the Montana land it comes from.

The Mangalitsa heritage breed, often called the “Kobe beef of pork,” is a 200-year-old Hungarian breed that is popular among chefs worldwide.  It is high in fat, incredibly concentrated flavor, and highly marbled meat.  The fat has a buttery flavor and is ideal for curing, charcuterie, and salami.  It is high in monounsaturated fat, giving it a melt in the mouth feel. It melts at room temperature, making it easier for your body to process. It also makes excellent pie crust and hand lotion.
